WASHINGTON The Senate unanimously confirmed President Bushs six nominees to the restructured Tennessee Valley Authority board on Friday. Democrats had blocked a final vote for two weeks.
Once the nominees are commissioned by the White House and sworn into office, they will join two remaining members of the current TVA board in hiring a chief executive to run TVA.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the prospective board members have strong entrepreneurial and management skills.
Their business experience and expertise will allow TVA to achieve the tremendous success I envisioned when designing the new board structure, Sen. Frist said.
