Hamilton County Board of Education Vice Chairman Marty Puryear said he does not believe the school board will abandon the process used to select three finalists for the superintendents job.
Since local candidate Rick Smith did not make the final cut last Saturday, two Hamilton County commissioners have voiced their support for him as superintendent. Commissioners Curtis Adams and Bill Hullander both said they think a local candidate is needed to unite the community behind the school district.
The boards advisory committee selected three candidates from six applicants that included Mr. Smith. The board is scheduled to interview those three people Friday and Saturday and then decide how many, if any, to invite back for second interviews.
