East Ridge is the least business-friendly city in East Tennessee and Chattanooga ranks below average in a new study of the business climate of the states biggest cities.
The Tennessee Center for Policy Research reported today that East Ridge ranked 47th and Chattanooga placed 38th among Tennessees biggest 50 cities in their overall business climate. The study was based upon tax burdens, cost of living, workforce skills, community allure, and location and transportation access. East Ridge ranked below average in all areas in the study. Only three West Tennessee placed lower than East Ridge.
Chattanooga rated high for its location and business amenities but low in its tax burden and crime rate.
The Knox County town of Farragut earned the title of Tennessees most business-friendly city, while Memphis ranked as the states worst city for its business climate.
The report was published in the current issue of Business Tennessee magazine.
