Former Carson-Newman College coach Lorri Johnson has been hired as the Soddy-Daisy High School volleyball coach.
She is leaving her positions as an assistant at Lookout Valley and a teacher at Brainerd Baptist Elementary to teach physical education and coach volleyball at Soddy-Daisy. She is succeeding Stan Sumrell, who guided the Lady Trojans to a District 6-AAA runner-up finish in his temporary stint as head coach.
Johnson started the volleyball program at Van Buren County before returning to Chattanooga in 2001. Joining her at Soddy-Daisy will be her daughters, ninth-grader Christy and eighth-grader Andrea, who both played for Lookout Valley last fall.
