Ed Bryant, a U.S. Senate hopeful and former Republican congressman from Tennessee, said this morning that the federal government must control spending and attempt to balance the budget.
If we could just grab hold of our spending habits, Mr. Bryant said. Weve gone too far there.
Mr. Bryants comments came on WGOW 102.3 FM. He is traveling the state with former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, this week.
Mr. Bryant will face Van Hilleary, also a former Republican congressman from Tennessee, and former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker in the Aug. 3 Republican Senate primary for the seat to be vacated by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.
