The fact that it is still relevant after three rounds is a minor miracle. J.J. and Adam are headed back to class. Kentucky and Arizona, my perennial favorites, have been home for a while now. Bruce Pearls orange blazer has already been dry cleaned and hung in West Knox County, and Coach Knight didnt even make an appearance.
But, my bracket is still standing.
Thanks to the Zags folding and Dukes annual mind-numbing collapse, Im sitting in first and third places in my respected pools.
Now would probably be the time to mention that the former consists mostly of undergraduate engineering students, while the other is primarily composed of collegiate journalists.
But, I dont care. I had to endure the internal conflict of having the game between my favorite team (WVU) and my bracketed team (Texas) go down to the wire.
For a moment, I even had to acknowledge a West Coast team (UCLA) as a contender. It was painful.
The likelihood of a Villanova/Texas final isnt all that high, and the chances of a UT championship in anything not played on the gridiron are even less likely.
I wouldnt get anything for winning, anyway, so just allow me to bask in satisfaction for the next week. (The other side of my bracket is essentially decimated).
