NASHVILLE —; State Sen. Doug Jackson said he hopes he can convince Gov. Phil Bredesen to try a new federal program that could help subsidize insurance premiums for sick Tennessee residents.
Sen. Jackson, D-Dickson, said he wants the administration to examine the new Medicaid waiver known as the Health Insurance Flexibility and Accountability Demonstration Initiative.
Using the waiver would give the state access to federal funds to take care of citizens who are chronically ill, Sen. Jackson said.
General Welfare Committee members approved the measure unanimously and sent it on to the Finance Committee.
