Thirty-three Marines in the Mike Battery boarded a bus this afternoon enroute to the Chattanooga Regional Airport, where they will fly to Philadelphia in preparation for a nine- or 10-month deployment to Iraq.
The Marines will spend about a week undergoing final medical exams and filling out paperwork before leaving for training camps in North Carolina and California. They will leave for Iraq late this summer and should return in February or March 2007.
The Marines spent their last afternoon in Chattanooga with their families at a barbecue at the Marine Corps Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway.
