Friends of the Festival, which runs the Riverbend music festival, now will be in charge of all sidewalk vending and street performers on the riverfront under a revised contract with the city of Chattanooga.
Friends of the Festival previously had signed an agreement to manage events on the 21st Century Waterfront, and the new contract expands the group’s responsibilities.
Sidewalk vendors and performers will be restricted to certain areas in parks along the Tennessee River.
The city will pay the organization $40,000 a year for its management services, while Friends of the Festival will pay the city a $15,000 damage deposit each year for Riverbend.
