Arts & Sciences advances at Spring Fling
In their third trip to the Spring Fling, the Arts & Sciences Patriots recorded their first win at the state tournament with a 3-1 victory over University School of Jackson. CSAS will play three-time defending state champion CAK on Thursday night at 8 p.m.
Duncan Keegan, Geoff Mason, D.J. Crumble each scored goals for the Patriots.

Sam Eberle hit another home run, his 12th of the year, but Notre Dame suffered its first loss of the Class AA baseball tournament, 5-4 to University School of Jackson. The Irish were playing again in the losers bracket against Anderson County, the team they beat 16-4 to open the tournament.
Soddy-Daisy 4, Knox Central 1
Nikki Waters pitched a four-hitter and Lyndsey Styles had two hits for the Lady Trojans, who will play another losers-bracket game on Thursday morning.
Area players cruise in AAA tennis
Murfreesboro, Tenn. —; All of the area players advanced in through the quarterfinals of the Class AAA individual tennis tournament this morning.
Ooltewah’s Caroline Denton scored a 6-1, 6-2 singles win over Jamie Walker of Science Hill. William Disterdick of Soddy-Daisy beat Ryan Spencer of Dickson County 6-0, 6-4. The Red Bank doubles combo of Daniel Siller and Jarvis Appleberry won by default.
The Class AAA semifinals are Thursday. Singles start at 10 a.m. Eastern and doubles begin at 11:30 a.m.
