Summer doesn’t really begin in Chattanooga until the first Nightfall concert of the year, and the first notes from The Dexter Thomas Band tonight at Miller Plaza will be welcomed with open ears. I’ve got the summer’s Nightfall picks in MUSICcast today. You can also hear J. Roddy Walston talking about putting everything he’s got into new music, and then listen to some tunes.
Lil’ Bryan and The Zydeco Travelers headline. Quick thought: Why do all zydeco bands feel the need to put “zydeco” in their name? You never saw Bob Seeger and Gritty-Yet-Radio-Friendly-Rockers-Singing-About-Encounters-With-Women. I won’t entirely kill the joke with an E-Street Band reference.
If you’re not at Nightfall tonight then, uh, well, I’m not sure where you’ll be. Afterwards check out Randall Bramblett at Midtown. He gave me one of the nicest interviews ever, and he’s dynamite songwriter to boot. Note: He likes milk in his hot tea.
On Saturday take advantage of the long weekend with a trip to the mountains.
