Gov. Phil Bredesen said today that he would seize on Tennessee’s improving reputation for technology and economic growth to generate more business for the state.
“I think there’s no better set of opportunities in our state right now than the development of technology in this corridor,” Gov. Bredesen said during a gathering of government and business leaders at the opening of the Tennessee Valley Corridor Summit.
Site Selection magazine recently ranked Tennessee behind only North Carolina in its annual survey of job-competitive states.
Tennessee has lured more than $10 billion in new investment from businesses generating an extra 85,000 jobs in the last three years, Tennessee Economic Development Commissioner Matt Kisber said.
