The Chattanooga Public Works Department has secured $3,000 to buy and install mail boxes for the residents of Lupton City.
City Council members tonight approved a resolution that allows the department to accept $1,000 from the R.L. Stowe Co. and $2,000 from the U.S. Postal Service for the project.
Lupton City’s small post office in July closed its doors after the building was deemed structurally unsafe. The neighborhood of 70 residents never has had door-to-door mail delivery.
Mayor Ron Littlefield and Councilwoman Sally Robinson are hosting a meeting Thursday night for Lupton City residents to talk about the post office’s closing.
Lupton City has had several issues, including the loss of their post office, and we wanted to come together to work for a solution on that, Ms. Robinson said.
