Eight pass test for nuclear license

Eight TVA nuclear employees have passed exams administered by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and received licenses that authorize them to perform and supervise functions associated with the operation of TVA’s nuclear power plants.



Two employees passed exams to become reactor operators at TVA’s Watts Bar Nuclear Plant near Spring City, Tenn., and six employees at Watts Bar and Sequoyah nuclear plants passed exams to become senior reactor operators.



Sequoyah employees who passed exams to become senior reactor operators were Mike Brubaker, Soddy-Daisy; Van Ford, Ooltewah; and Mark Ragsdale, Trenton, Ga.

McFadden, Stuart form law firm

Hallie McFadden and Hilary Stuart have announced their formation of McFadden & Stuart PLLC law firm.



The new firm will specialize in criminal defense law as well as real estate litigation.

Ms. McFadden grew up in Chattanooga and graduated from Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia. She earned her law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.



Ms. Stuart graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn., and earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Framingham State College in Massachusetts and a master’s degree in English from the University of Connecticut. She attended Northeastern University School of Law.

Sea Ray boat dealer wins recognition

Erwin Marine Sales recently was awarded “Master Dealer” status from Sea Ray Boats.

Erwin Marine Sales continually has met the award criteria each year for the past eight years.

A news release also said that Erwin has been recognized as the seventh-largest independent Sea Ray dealer in the world.



Erwin operates sales and marina locations in Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville and Huntsville, Ala. The business was established in Chattanooga in 1978.

Groups, firms win green awards

Three Green Awards were awarded to Chattanooga entities at the Mayors’ Business and Industry Appreciation Breakfast.



The Green Building Award was presented to Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, RiverCity Co. and Lyndhurst Foundation for designing, funding and building the new Jefferson Heights subdivision.

Buzzi Unicem USA-Signal Mountain plant received the Green Industry Award for reducing its carbon dioxide.



The Clean Fuels Award was presented to Ross Benton of Benton Oil Service for making biodiesel readily available in the Chattanooga area.



The citations were established through the Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement as a means of recognizing achievement of high standards of excellence in protecting the environment.

Kenco driver White places second

Steve White, a member of the Kenco Transportation team since 2005, came in second place in the sleeper class division of the 2007 Tennessee Truck Driving Championship.

The competition was held in Nashville.



Mr. White also was was runnerup to Rookie of the Year and had the second-highest score overall among first-time participants at the championship, which is sponsored by the Tennessee Trucking Association.

Mr. White and his wife, Tabitha, and three children live in Cleveland, Tenn.
