A Chattanooga man accused of molesting two girls faces up to six months in jail after a jury of nine men and three women found him guilty today of misdemeanor assault.
Beleg Cuthalion, also known as James Rayburn, initially was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, but after more than five hours of deliberations a Hamilton County Criminal Court jury found him guilty of assault.
Assistant Public Defender Christian Coder said the conviction is not a sexual offense and will not force Mr. Cuthalion to register as a sex offender.
Judge Rebecca Stern scheduled a sentencing hearing for June 4.
Mr. Cuthalion will remain free on bond until that time.
