CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Bradley County inmates will receive health care from a Maryville firm while the county seeks a long-term contract for the service, county commissioners decided today.
Commissioners voted for Detention Health Care Associates to provide inmate medical care through October, subject to a review by the county attorney.
Two commission committees, Finance and Law Enforcement, met last week with Sheriff Tim Gobble and other department officials concerning health care at the justice center. There was some confusion, commissioners said, whether the two offers received are actual bids or proposals for service.
Inmates do have medical coverage now, Capt. Gabe Thomas told commissioners, but the department needs time to fill a vacancy. But RNs are not busting down our door to work in the jail, he said.
