Man arrested on homicide charge after child's death

Staff Report

Chattanooga police arrested a man today in connection with Wednesday's death of a 4-year-old boy at East Lake Courts, officials said.

Jamar McField. 21, of 2543 Sixth Avenue Court, was charged with criminal homicide and aggravated child abuse, after the medical examiner's report on Keanon Beamon's death was released yesterday, according to police department spokesman Sgt. Rick Mincy.

According to officials at the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's Office, "multiple blunt force injuries" caused the child's death, which was ruled a homicide.

Mr. McField is the boyfriend of the child's mother, and is currently in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, Sgt. Mincy said.
