Beck to take leave from city job ‘at appropriate time’

by Matt Wilson

Democratic sheriff candidate Greg Beck said he will take a leave of absence from his job as a city court officer “at the appropriate time” after a city request that he do so.

Mr. Beck said he wants to stay on as Judge Sherry Paty’s court officer until a replacement can be trained.

Also a Hamilton County commissioner, Mr. Beck said he earlier has planned to take a leave from his job at some point to campaign full time.

City personnel manager Donna Kelley asked Mr. Beck to take a leave of absence, citing a provision in the city code that says city employees must go on leave while running for public office.

If he wants to be the Sheriff then he needs to follow the law. We don't need another Billy Long.
