Akins enters Hamilton County sheriff’s race

Sheriff’s Staff Sgt. Tim Akins will announce today that he has entered the running for Hamilton County sheriff as an independent.

Sgt. Akins, who is in charge of the booking department at the Hamilton County Jail, will run in the Aug. 7 election as an independent, he said. He said he leans Republican.

A news conference is planned for today at 3:30 p.m.

Sgt. Akins will face Democratic nominee Greg Beck, GOP nominee Jim Hammond and independent candidate Jim Winters in the race.

No it is the other way around. Tim is the one to turn around the sheriffs dept.
