Lifelong Chattanooga resident Russell Goode played piano for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King. The civil rights leader was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis. Afterwards, Mr. Goode continued on as accompanist to Mrs. King as she toured the United States and Europe to raise awareness and money for the King Center in Atlanta.
