Sheriff nominee Beck to sue city over court job

by Matt Wilson

Democratic Hamilton County sheriff nominee Greg Beck is planning to sue the city of Chattanooga over a requirement that he take a leave of absence from his job as a city court officer, according to his attorney, Jerry Summers.

Mr. Summers said he was planning on filing the suit today or Wednesday.

City Personnel Director Donna Kelly had asked Mr. Beck to take a leave from his job, citing a portion of the city code that states city employees cannot run for public office.

Mr. Beck, also a Hamilton County commissioner, has said the code section discriminates against candidates who are not rich. He has said he would step down from his job “at the appropriate time.”

He had not filed anything with Hamilton County Chancery Court as of early this afternoon.

Mr. Beck has been a city court officer since August 2004.

Follow the law Mr Beck. We don't need any more politicians who think that the law is for other people to follow but not themselves. After the last lawbreaking sheriff, you should understand why this is a big issue.

SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC BUT... The low morals found today in America reflect the sad state of our country and it can be traced back to our government and corporate “leaders” – our nation has been reduced to a corporate oligarchy, we are simply the grapes in their huge winemaking operations. No longer is this a land of the “people’s voice”, this is the land of corporate domination & economic hierarchy where the people & the little fish are preyed on by the corporate sharks. This once great nation has now been perverted by corrupt politicians, slimy lobbyists, lying preachers, greedy corporate businessmen & shyster banksters – the high morals & shining principles that were once considered hallmarks of American society are now merely another relic of the past, long since forgotten by the minds of men & the sands of time! A wise man once said that success was the accomplishment of the necessary, and until Americans decide to awaken to this reality & wholeheartedly adopt this philosophy, there’s not much cause for optimism and hope. Simply put, there’s no success without a just cause, that’s part of the law of nature yet today we equate success with comfort – this is another example of the flawed logic being purported in 2008. It’s time for people to take a moment an re-evaluate the world we live in and the natural laws that govern us all because somewhere along the way our ideals have been distorted – our moral compass is now broken! Somewhere within our development as a culture, America began to betray itself, we’ve lowered our standards at all levels (from grammar school to university), but worse than that there’s been a concerted effort to bury the soul inside man. From the mystery schools to alchemy to the teachings of the Greek philosophers, the education of the holy spirit has, for the most part, gone the way of the dinosaurs. No longer is value placed on these many meaningful contributions, once considered to be treasures by millions who deeply adhered to their principles. But society is different now, most Americans receive most of their programming from the flickering box in the living room – it filters & frames the events from a corporate perspective.

Yes, we’ve drifted from consciousness and forgotten the real meaning of things, the real meaning of life. Why have we forgotten about that quintessential element the alchemists used to conceptualize, when one has assimilated all four aspects of the human psyche – rationality, instinct, emotion & intuition? Only once a man has full control over these can he truly see the clear light of lucidity & say he’s in complete command of his psyche. Well there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that we’re not operating within the laws of nature…one need not look any further than our basic necessities to see how our version of reality is merely a corrosive, indignant plan with no long-term future. Simply ponder what we’re doing to our three primary needs (air, water & food) & recognize that our future survival could be in doubt unless we change our ways. What have we done to the air we breathe? We’ve filled the air with pollutants, we’ve attacked our ozone & we’ve created more cars, more roads & more smog – we tear down forests to build up suburbs with chic condominiums, never once considering the environmental repercussions this might pose. And what of water, what have we done to safeguard this most precious commodity – well we’ve dumped chemicals & prescription drugs into it, we’ve dumped nuclear waste & other toxic by products into it, we’ve instituted compulsory rules using junk science to ensure that fluoride flows freely through our drinking water supply. This chemical by-product of the aluminum industry was first used by Nazi’s to sterilize prisoners & make them dumb & docile, yet Americans are cleverly unaware of the mass medication coming right through their taps. Then there’s our food supply, we allow genetic mutations, unsafe growth hormones & stay very silent, even as Codex Alimentarius threatens to eradicate all nutrients from our food supply. But nobody cares, as long as there’s tacos & hamburgers available on every street corner there’s no cause for concern. Which brings me to another very important item, there’s a high level of overall apathy that has permeated our landscape. There doesn’t seem to be a “sense of urgency” to fix any of the problems we’ve created in the twentieth century. We seem perfectly content with the idea that we’ll simply add to the world’s problems and let future generations do the cleaning up. The American government has already earmarked $60 trillion in future spending & we owe another $10 trillion in interest & loans. Who do we suppose is going to pay for all this…we bring in less than $2.5 trillion in taxes annually, and the country has saved nothing, even after 100 years of the greatest prosperity a nation has ever seen.

Special interests, war spending & government/corporate partnerships have converged upon Washington, DC & fomented the biggest “money grab” in history. Our apathy is allowing an elite few, drunk with power & astute in the art of corruption, to rob our coiffures of all monetary reserves…we simply print up the money (as needed) in hopes of staving off a total economic collapse. This is not what nature intended, this is not a course that benefits the betterment of man...this plan has no future! Too many Americans are focused solely on comfort, power and/or greed – these are not the priorities of anyone living for good, these traits (at their core) relate to evil – life is supposed to be about learning truth & integrity, not temporary sensory gratification. But try telling any of this to a modern American, they simply wont believe it…they have fifty-two inch plasma TV’s & $40,000 automobiles & enough credit cards to play solitaire. This form of debt slavery is now the norm as nearly 300 million Americans traipse off to a job they hate doing things that make them unhappy – but at least they have 200+ channels of “programming” available to them, just in case they ever stop buying things & realize that “stuff” wont make them happy! This is the secret of alcohol, cocaine & methamphetamines…all promise short-term happiness without disclosing the long-term side effects OR their destructive nature towards one’s soul! There’s something very telling about a culture that wants to escape from reality – using drugs, movies, porn & a myriad of other vices...anything to avoid the HERE & NOW! This is not the future our forefathers envisioned, the laws of nature do not subscribe to any of these newfound American traditions – there’s no future in ANY of this logic. It’s time for America to go back to TRUTH...in order to do this one must do away with "beliefs", there can only be truth -- people have agendas & "beliefs" are their primary means of fomenting falsehood. Truth and Integrity...that's what the CPD sorely needs!
