Barbara Beaman
Barbara Ann Beaman passed Thursday, April 10, 2008, in a local hospital.
She was a member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church and retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thera Steward Studdard and Eugene Lightner Sr.; and brothers, Freddie and Eugene Lightner Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory; two sons, Albert L. Beaman Jr. and Larry Beaman; two daughters, Julia and Thera Beaman, all of Chattanooga; three sisters, Eletha Studdard, Gary, Colo., Ann (Lester) Amos, Atlanta, Teresa Studdard, Chattanooga; five brothers, J.D. (Neil) Steward, Pittsburgh, Pa., Duncan Studdard, Greenville, N.C., Donald Studdard, Washington, D.C.,Alexander Studdard Jr. and Ronald Lightner, both of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Mario Beaman, Kevin Word, Rashard and Arnesha Berry; one great-grandchild, Keonna Beaman; aunt, Ann Gaston, Knoxville; brother-in-law, James (Barbara) Beaman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends; devoted friend, Liz Hester.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at noon at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Dr. Ternae Jordan Sr. officiating.
Interment in Highland.

Annie Chrisman
Annie Lizzie Haynes Ralston Chrisman, 86, precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 14, 2008, at Life Care Center of Red Bank, Chattanooga.
She was a lifelong resident of the Triune community of Williamson County and of Eagleville, Tenn.
Mrs. Chrisman was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Charles Ralston who died in 1979 and her brothers, Jody, Frank and Jack Haynes.
Survivors include her second husband, Buford "Dave" Chrisman, of Eagleville, Tenn.; daughters and son-in-laws, Faye (J.C.) Hitchcock, Signal Mountain, Nancy (Dan) Clower, Chattanooga, Rachel (Jim) Cowart, Signal Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Janice) Ralston, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sister, Mary Alice (Gordon) Lamb, Eagleville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Angela (Rolando) Apablaza, Zachary (Laurie) Cowart, Holly Cowart, James Hitchcock, Kelly Hill and Courtney Cowart; great-grandchildren, Alexia Tatiana Apablaza and Harper Delaney Cowart.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 17, at 1 p.m. CDT from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Charles McKnight officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. CDT until time of services.

Kenneth "Jake" Donald Hamby, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in an area health care facility.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Hamby; and sisters, Aileen Smith and Barbara Mulkey.
He is survived by his son, Jackie Hamby, of Soddy-Daisy; brothers, Mike Hamby and David Hamby, both of Soddy-Daisy, Tom Hamby, of Little Rock, Calif., and Ray Hamby, of Palm Dale, Calif.; sister, JoAnn Gravett, of Hixson; grandchildren, Anthony Hamby and Brian Hamby, both of Soddy-Daisy.

Claudia Hill-Stegel
Claudia E. Hill-Stegel passed away at her residence, Saturday April 12, 2008, in company with family and friends.
Claudia was originally from Stokes County, Va., and had resided in Chattanooga for 44 years. She was a longtime cosmetics employee at the downtown Miller Bros. and the Eastgate J.C. Penney's. She was an avid gardener of flowers at their residence on Lookout Mountain.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Sam and Alice Hill; four sisters, Virginia, Mabel, Addie and Sadie; and one brother, Herston.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Damon L. Stegel; son and daughter-in-law, Sam H. and Kat Epperson, of Okinawa, Japan; son, H. Bradley Epperson, of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, William Barkley and Rhonda Epperson; sister, Ellen Perryman; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 16, 2008, in the South Crest Chapel with the Rev. David Bateman officiating.

Sue Ann Link King passed away on Monday, April 14, 2008.
She was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Combustion Engineering as chief telephone operator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ninna Van Hooser Link; and her brother, Jimmy Link.
She is survived by her husband, Hoyle King; daughters, Kay Hicks (Kyle) Askew and Pam Hicks (Tom) Ryan, of Chattanooga; and stepdaughter, Denice King, of Cleveland, Tenn. Also six grandchildren, Matthew Askew, Meghan (Brad) Appleberry, Morgan Askew, Corey (April) Ryan, Noah Ryan and Jordan Ryan. Also two great-grandchildren, Dalyn Askew and Miller Askew and nephew Jeff Link.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, with the Rev. Troy Walliser officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mary Hall Plasters, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008, in a local hospital.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a former Sunday School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carl Plasters and a son, Paul Holman.
Survivors include one son, Don Bouer, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Patricia Pattamamoleenak, of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Ian, Paige and Ethan Pattamamoleenak and Jade Hammonds and her husband, Chase; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Adara, Allynah, Destin, Elizabeth and Tallon; one brother, Bill Hall, of Birmingham, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating.

Jean Riddle
Jean Riddle, 88, of Red Bank, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Riddle was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was the wife of the late Thomas Riddle and was also preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
She was a member of Red Bank Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Carl Riddle, Hixson; two daughters, Judy Coffelt, South Pittsburg; Doris Durham, Red Bank; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David James officiating.
Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Damon Talley, Dennis Riddle, Terry Turner, Daniel McGuffey, Josh Riddle and David Wallen serving as pallbearers.

Hoyle Roy Jr.
Hoyle W. "Bill" Roy Jr. (1947-2008) affectionately known as "10-4" a native of Chattanooga, and a resident of Mobile, Ala., passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008.
He was a 1965 graduate of Brainerd High School in Chattanooga where he lettered four straight years in football playing under Coach Pete Potter. After graduating, Mr. Roy attended the University of Chattanooga where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home in 1968, he attended Cleveland State and graduated with a degree in criminal justice. He then served as a Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy under Sheriff Frank Newell until 1971 when he joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol, where he served for a number of years. Mr. Roy then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he held several positions, retiring as Postmaster in Georgetown, Tenn., after 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hoyle W. Roy Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph A. and Jamie Murphy Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Samuel L. and Ethel Varnell Roy.
Mr. Roy is survived by his wife, Patricia Roy; children, Traci Roy Adams, Susan Roy Johnson, Christopher Scott Roy, Susan Augiar, Teresa Pacheck and Kathy Little; grandchildren, Benjamin Adams, Quincy Scott, Chris Little, Laura Augiar and Nicole Augiar; mother, Margaret Murphy Roy; sister, Gina Roy Newberry; nephew, William Newberry; several great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

JASPER -- Catherine Louise Jones, 73, died Monday, April 14, 2008.
She was retired from Waffle House Restaurant, Lookout Valley. She was a member of Whiteside Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lamar Bennett; parents, Hershel Smith and Grace John Warren Jones; two sisters, Bea McGowan, Elizabeth Parker; three brothers, Charles Wilson, Hershel Jones and Paul Jones.
She is survived by three daughters, Nadine Boland, of Jasper, Vickie Spangler, of Hixson and Renee Abrams, of East Ridge; 12 grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. EDT Thursday in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Painter officiating.
Interment will be in Baptist Hill Cemetery.

DUNLAP -- Larry Layne, 70, died Monday morning, April 14, 2008, in Memorial North Park Hospital.
He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of St. Elmo Lodge 437 F&AM and Chattanooga Valley Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josiephine Holland Layne; son, Mike Layne; grandson, Robert Layne; parents, Gilbert and Mammie Layne; three brothers.
He is survived by daughter, Diane (Tony) Atwood, Scottsville, Ky.; son, Greg Layne, Pikeville; eight grandchildren, Jackly, Greg and Tommy Layne, all of Dunlap, Amanda Hartman, Huntsville, Ala., Terry Michael, Matthew, Nicholas, Ally Atwood, Scottsville, Ky.; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judy Duffey and Iretta Grant, both of Sale Creek, Dorothy Holland, Dunlap and Nola Turner, Scottsville, Ky.; two brothers, Buddy G. CLEVELAND -- The Rev. T. Paul Patton, 86, a well known and loved minister of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in a Chattanooga hospital.

Ralph Pippenger
CLEVELAND -- Ralph Pippenger, 70, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008, in a local hospital.
He was an active member of Tasso United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Maude Marie Pippenger; and a sister, Mary Garren.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ralph was a graduate of Bradley Central High School where he played football and basketball and spent several years in coaching Dixie Youth Baseball and youth basketball in the community. In 1998 he was inducted into the Bradley County Old Timers Hall of Fame for basketball and he remained an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Walker Pippenger. Two sons and their wives, Phil and Amy Pippenger, Cleveland and Andy and Brooke Pippenger, Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Abigail, Caleb, Lydia, Silas and Luke Pippenger, of Cleveland, and Wiley, Janie and Marguerite Pippenger, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; sisters, Martha (Harry) Haun, Rossville, Jeannie (Denny) Griffith, Cleveland; brother, Larry Pippenger, Cleveland, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Cutshaw, the Rev. Mike Travis and the Rev. Charles Ensminger officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

William Stolzenburg
KNOXVILLE -- William "Bill" Stolzenburg, 94, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bunker Hill during Word War II. He later retired as senior vice president of marketing from BlueCross BlueShield after 25 years of service. His confidence was not in his many fine accomplishments in this life, but in his precious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son who died for him. He so looked forward to this day when he would enter God's beautiful Home and dwell with him forever. As he said so many times these last months "He has all the answers". His children and grandchildren loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, GeGelia Stolzenburg; wife, Fleeta Lane Stolzenburg.
Bill is survived by his son, Harold Knott, of Apopka, Fla.; daughter, Sharon Wilkerson and husband, Jack, of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Pastor Jack Wilkerson officiating.

Bertha Tallent
GREENBACK -- Bertha J. Tallent, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Sweetwater.
She was born in Monroe County, Tenn., to the late Henry J. and Margaret K. Jenkins. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Josh B. Tallent; infant son, Steve; and two brothers, Allen and Everett.
Surviving her are two children, Dick Tallent and wife, Susie, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Brenda Bryan and husband, David, of Sweetwater. Also surviving are grandchildren, Angie McJunkins and husband, Rick, Julie Wilson and husband, Chris, Amy Bibee and husband, Rodney, Rita Tallent, and Michael Tallent and wife, Stacy; great-grandchildren, Cole and Ivy McJunkins, Zack, Hayden and Anna Claire Wilson, Luke and Hannah Beth Bibee, and Holden Tallent; special friend, Ray Frank; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Greenback First Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and a fervent supporter of The Greenback Community Center and the Greenback Community Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
The family will receive friends at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville from 6-8 p.m. today, April 16, 2008.
A Celebration of Life will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Greenback, conducted by the Rev. David Bell and the Rev. Carl Oakes on Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m.

WHITWELL -- Veda Thomas, 51, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at her nieces' home with her family by her side.
She will be the one we will always remember for her laugh and happy times. She was a member of Red Hill Community Church.
Veda was preceded in death by her father, Clarence "Onyx" Green; aunt, Violet Thacker.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Duane Dotson, of Nashville; mother and stepdad, Jerline Thacker and David Akers; sisters, Tresea Green and Sammy "Boxer" Pickett, Vicki and Robbie "Cob" Green; special brother, Roy Lee Mosier; dearest and lifelong friend, Dee Dee Bullard, nieces, Christy Reeves and Holly Daniels; nephews, Steven and Michelle Cooley, Ritchie and Nicci Vaughn. MONTEAGLE -- Thelma Meeks Watley, 88, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.
She was a daughter of the late Priest and Winnie Ladd Meeks and was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Watley.
Thelma was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a retired nurse.
Survivors include her children, Bruce (Carol) Watley, Stuart, Fla., Lavona Baker, Cedar Park, Texas, Joy (Dave) Sturtevant, Monteagle, Lynne Phelps, Murfreesboro, Donna Watley, Monteagle; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. CDT Friday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Richard Barger officiating.
Interment will follow in Monteagle Cemetery.

William Dye
CHICKAMAUGA -- William "Bill" Clinton Dye, 77, passed away Monday, April 14, 2008.
He was born in Chattooga County, Ga., to the late Richard Jackson Dye Sr. and Eunice Mae Baggett Dye. He was a member of Chickamauga Church of Christ. He was the retired owner/operator of Dye's Paint & Body Shop in Chickamauga. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially time he spent fishing with them.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Greg Sharp; grandson, Alan Dye; and a great-grandson, Jackson Dye.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jean Fulmer Dye, of Chickamauga; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Sharp, of Flintstone, Ga., Beverly and Jim Ussery, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Lynn Dye and Don and Frances Dye, all of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Anthony and Kristy Dye, Addan and Crystal Dye, Beth Dye Brown, all of Chickamauga, Billy and Melody Dye, of LaFayette, Ga., Jason and Ashley Madaris, of Arkansas, Jane Blanton, of Arizona; great-grandchildren, Clay, Victoria, Dylan and Maggie Dye, Baylee and Chandler Brown, Miranda Grantham, all of Chickamauga; sister, Ann Espy Norton, of Summerville, Ga.; brother, Richard Dye, of Chickamauga.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2008, graveside at LaFayette Memory Gardens with Minister David Wade officiating.

Catherine Hackler
LaFAYETTE -- Catherine Z. Hackler, 96, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.D. Hackler.
Masses are scheduled at St. Gerard on Sunday, April 20, at 11 a.m. and Saturday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m.
Interment will take place in Paterson, NJ.
Dorothy Harris
ROSSVILLE -- Dorothy Caroline Harris, 68, departed this life Sunday, April 13, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
She loved to do crafts and loved her dogs, Bell & Taco. She retired from Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Daisey Morgan; husbands, Sonny Howard Drake and Charles Harris.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Drake Patterson, of Cleveland, Tenn., Dorothy Drake Howell, Howard Drake "Pete", Theresa Drake Tanner, all of Rossville; grandchildren, Alan, Adam and Amber Patterson, of Cleveland, Rodney "Buddy" Johnson, of Calhoun, Ga., Erica Goodine, of Chattanooga, Logan Tanner, of Rossville; great-grandchildren, Gage and Kaylan Patterson, of Cleveland, Ashley Johnson, Brianna Thompson, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Mary (Jack) Dean, Ann (Harold) McCoy, all of Rossville, Mildred (Lee) Spurgin, of Red Bank; brothers, Jack (Merita) Morgan, of Ringgold, Don (Linda) Morgan, of East Ridge; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Gary Ward.
Services will be held 2 p.m. today, April 16, 2008, in the chapel with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Allen, Adam Patterson, Rodney Johnson, nephews, Steven, Robbie McCoy and Mitchell Ferguson.
Family will receive friends prior to the service today.

DAWSON -- Flora Mae Jones, 91, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Riverview Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday, April 17, from Rainsville Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will follow in Lusk Chapel Cemetery.
