Pete Blevins Jr.

W. D. "Pete" Blevins Jr., loving husband, father, son and grandfather passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Brian Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Scooter Bridge

William H. "Scooter" Bridge, 56, of Harrison, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, at a local hospital.

Scooter was a native of Chattanooga.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy "Corky" Bridge, and was preceded in death by his father, William F. Bridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Bible Village.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, with the Rev. Genevieve DeHoog officiating.

Kyle Franklin Davis, of Ooltewah, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

Willard Dye

Willard Lynch Dye, 98, died Friday, April 25, 2008.

Willard was born in Springfield, Ohio, Nov. 7, 1909. His family moved to Chattanooga when he was a small child. He graduated from Chattanooga High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. His work with Camp Ocoee, YMCA and the Junior Leaders Club lead him to the 1932 Olympics where he was a runner-up to represent the USA in the gymnastics competition.

He was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church for 70 years. Willard was an original employee of TVA as a civil engineer.

He was preceded in death by Bessie Marie Dye, his beloved wife of 63 years; his parents, Roy and Olive Dye; and sister, Rachel Byrd.

He is survived by his children, Roy (Pat) Dye, Joy Black; and grandchildren Cheryl (Steve) Tompkins, Robin Dye, Taja Dye, Chantal Dye, Josh (Lori) Black, Jason (Nadia) Black, Tara Black; and his sister, Jeannette Sitton.

Willard lived a full life of caring, loving and helping others.

A memorial service, body donated to medical science, to honor his life will be held Friday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at First-Centenary United Methodist Church, visitation will be at 9:30 a.m.

Phil Hackney

Phil Hackney docked at his home port of Heaven on Sunday, April 27, 2008.

A Chattanooga native, Phil graduated from the Baylor School and the University of Tennessee. He was a businessman and he was associated with Phil's Marine Sales, Hackney's Dress Shop and most recently Marine Max. Phil was a member of the Chattanooga Yacht Club for many years and he was honored by the Chattanooga Marine Trade Association at the All Boat Review in 2003. Phil was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary and the Power Squadron. Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Phil was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Bess Hackney Bright and Noble Leslie Hackney Sr.; brother, Noble Leslie Hackney Jr.

Phil is survived by a daughter, Deborah Hagaman Hackney; cousin, Ronald and Louise Hackney, of Huntsville, Ala.; extended family, Bonnie C. Hagaman, William Smith Hagaman Jr. and Debbie Hagaman Hackney.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Phil will be attended by fellow boatmen from the Chattanooga Yacht Club and dear lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Clinton Norman

Clinton H. Norman, of Soddy-Daisy, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the Bridge at Monteagle.

He was retired from Combustion Engineering where he was manager of Labor Relations. He was a member of Soddy Methodist Church, Brainerd Masonic Lodge 736 F&AM, Chattanooga Scottish Rite Society, Alhambra Shrine and Knights of Pythias. He attended Daisy High School and the University of Chattanooga. He was an outstanding basketball player there as well as having played semi-pro ball with the Peerless Woolens Team where he was named all southern in the Southern Textile Basketball Tournament in Greenville, S.C. He was also inducted into the Old Timers Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Tri-State Officials Association as a basketball and football official for 25 years.

He was the son of the late Walter and Will Norman of Daisy, a pioneer family in Hamilton County and preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Norman, of Daisy and Whaley Ordell Norman, of Chattanooga.

He is survived by two daughters, Patsy (Toby) Ayre and Dixie (Bill) Long; son, Walter (Gayle) Norman, all of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Frank Ayre III, Kristi Ayre and Scott Norman; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mike McRae officiating.

Anthony Ragucci

Brother Anthony Ragucci died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Alexian Brothers Health Care Center, Signal Mountain.

Born June 13, 1914 to Louis and Madeline Ragucci in Morristown, N.J. Brother Anthony served in the U. S. Army in WWII and then worked for International Petroleum companies in various parts of the world, including Puerto Rico, India and the United States.

He entered the Congregation of Alexian Brothers in March, 1958 and celebrated his 50th Jubilee in March 2008. He held leadership roles in Chicago, Ill.; San Jose, Calif.; Milwaukee, Wis.; and in Signal Mountain, where he lived until his death.

He is survived by a nephew, Gerry Ragucci, Providence, Mass., and a niece, Gayle Brock, Capitola, Calif. Also by many extended family members.

Brother Tony lived life fully. He loved the Lord, his family and friends. He helped them live their lives in joy.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the Alexian Village.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008,at 11:15 a.m. at St. Augustine Chapel of Alexian Village.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

J. Wayne Roberts, 63, of Harrison, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008, in a local hospital.

Josephine Still

Josephine Still, 105, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Life Care Center of Collegedale where she was a resident for 22 years.

Born in Greenville, Tenn. on Nov. 23, 1902, she was the last surviving child of the late Nathan and Eliza Still.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom, Hubert and Carl Still; and her sisters, Bess, Claudia and Glenna Still Cannon with whom she made her home in Cleveland for many years.

She is survived by one niece, Jeane Casson, of Ooltewah; one nephew, Ernest Joe Cannon, of Cleveland, as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews of Greenville, Tenn. and Cleveland.

A remembrance of life graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens in Cleveland with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral Home, North Ocoee Chapel, who is in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn Stoner

Evelyn M. Stoner, 90, formerly of Altoona, Pa., and Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Loyalton of Harrisburg, Pa.

Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Mary H. Ebright Reed. She was the widow of Kenneth P. Stoner.

She was a volunteer for AMG International and attended Devonshire Memorial United Brethren in Christ Church.

She is survived by two sons, Michael D, Stoner, of Nevada, and Dr. Mark R. Stoner, of California; a brother, Cal E. Reed, of Linglestown; a sister, C. Louise Hampton, of Holidaysburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Ian and Heather Stoner; a great-grandson.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Devonshire Memorial United Brethren in Christ Church, 5630 Devonshire Road, Harrisburg, Pa. Rev. Todd Fetters will officiate.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

There will be a luncheon reception in the church's fellowship hall following the memorial service.

Mart Doyle Thrasher, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

He was the pastor of Attalla Church of God in Attalla, Ala. He was the pastor of several churches in our area over the past 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Thrasher; sons, Jerry Thrasher and Michael Thrasher, both of Lenoir City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Chelsea, Haley and Caitlyn Thrasher, all of Lenoir City: brother, Eugene Thrasher, of Ohatchee, Ala.; sisters, Oleana Wehunt, of Rainbow City, Ala.; Dean Smith, of Collinsville, Ala.; Ollie Mae Rowell, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lou Shutt, of Sweetwater, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Tom Warmouth

Thomas C. Warmouth, 68, son of Tim and Mary, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008, in his home after a long battle with cancer.

He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and owner of Warmouth Engraving and Printing Co. since moving to Hixson from New York in 1976.

He served in the Air Force from 1957-1959 as a military policeman and was a member of VFW and American Legion for the past 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of 47 years; two brothers, Tim and Robert; and sister, Joan and brother-in-law, Gus Foley.

He also is survived by his children; son, Michael, son Thomas G. and daughter-in-law, Christine and their children, Kyle and Kelly; daughter, Tammy and son-in-law, Tim Herrick and their children, Tiffany and Logan.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at St. Jude Catholic Church on Ashland Terrace with Father David Carter officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Greenwood; two sisters; three brothers.

RINGGOLD -- Sheila Karen Huskey Newsome, 56, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2008.

She was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. She was an employee of Beaulieu Carpet and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Clara Porter Huskey; and brother, Jerry Huskey.

He was a World War II veteran and a member White Oak Church of Christ.

Mr. Scholl retired from Covenant Transport.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jacob Scholl; mother, Helen Manuel Scholl; sister, Peggy Scholl Woods; son, Jack Phillip Scholl.

Rodney Trammel

CHICKAMAUGA -- Rodney Wayne Trammel, 42, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008.

He was born in Fort Oglethorpe, and had been a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working on and driving "Muscle Cars". He was a current employee of Synthetic/Industries/Shaw Industries where he had worked for the past 24 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer J.W. Trammel; aunt, Margaret Williams; and a niece, Dana Trammel.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura Danette Williams Trammel; children and their spouses, Brooke and Joe Keller, Adam Trammel, all of Chickamauga, Ga., Blake (stationed at San Diego, Calif., U.S.S. TRENTON -- John Milton Wilson, 60, departed this life Sunday April 27, 2008.

He served in the U.S. Army, was a Golf Pro and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winburn "Pete" and Lois Wilson; and his wife, Tracie Lackey Wilson.

Survivors include his son, Daniel Wilson; and daughter, Victoria Wilson, both of Germany; two brothers and wives, Donald and Janet Wilson, Wheaton, Ill., Jere and Joyce Wilson, Columbia, S.C., and aunt, Edna Elliott, Rockmart, Ga.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Jere Wilson officiating.

There is no visitation.

Clark Woodfin Sr.

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Clark Castle Woodfin Sr., 91, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

He was born Dec. 21, 1916, to the late Oliver Henry Woodfin and Cynthia Rosa Castle Woodfin in Morganville, Ga. He was a retired security guard with Rock Tenn Packaging for 30 years, was a member of McCarty Baptist Church, and he loved to hunt and fish.

He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Deborah Woodfin and Joyce Conn; great-granddaughter, Shawnna Conn; brother, Russell Woodfin; sisters, Francis Krajesky, Ruby McBryar, Mamie Woodfin, Frankie Keith, Margarite Berryhill and Dorothy Delashmitt.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Mae Redman Woodfin, of Fort Oglethorpe; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and W.C. Wingo, of Chickamauga; son, Clark Castle "Rick" Woodfin Jr.; daughter-in-law, Julia Sampley; seven grandchildren, Allen Conn, Earl and Gary Richards, Adam, Michael and Joseph Woodfin and Mary Woodfin White; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eric Greeson officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Irene Whitcher

BRIDGEPORT -- Irene Kirkpatrick Whitcher, 89, passed away at Rosewood Manor in Scottsboro, Ala.

She was born in Richard City, Tenn. Irene and her husband "Buster" were the original founders of the Bridgeport Dairy Bar and they enjoyed square dancing. She was a member of the Church of Christ and Jackson County Home Demonstration Club.

Laura Irene Kirkpatrick Whitcher was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Warren "Buster" Whitcher Jr.; parents, James Clinton "Tobe" and Laura Gilliam Kirkpatrick.

She is survived by her children, Carmen Whitcher Strock, of White City, Ala., Warren (Nanna) Whitcher, of Bridgeport, Janet Whitcher Brazeale, of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be, held Thursday, May 1, at 11 a.m. CDT at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, officiated by Brother Randy Smith.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. CDT today at Rudder Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Nancye Pless Sullivan, 80, widow of Clinton Sullivan Jr., died Monday, April 28, 2008.

Born in Maysville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Henry Ray and Mary Boyd Lykins Pless. A realtor with J.W. Davis, she was associated with the family business, Pless Antiques, on North Broadway, and enjoyed painting.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sallee and her husband, Phillip, Chattanooga; sisters, Sherry O'Dea and her husband, Michael, Louisville, Ky. and Ella Katherine Brandenburg and her husband, Gene, Lexington; stepgranddaughter, Autumn Allison McKenzie; niece, Cynthia Lynn McCalister; and nephews, Michael J.O'Dea IV, Brian P. O'Dea and Michael P. Brandenburg.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at W.R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway, conducted by Dr. Harold Hunter, Lexington.

Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
