Man breaks into home of Chattanooga Times Free Press' Lee Anderson

A man broke into the Missionary Ridge home of Times Free Press Associate Publisher and Editor Lee Anderson late this morning, taking cash and credit cards from his wife.

Mr. Anderson said his wife, Betsy, was at the residence located in the 200 block of Northcrest Road about 11:15 a.m. when she heard the doorbell at the back door ring. As she moved through the house to answer it, she heard a large crash and met a man about 6 feet tall in the middle of her home. The man took a tote bag and pocketbooks before demanding her rings, Mr. Anderson said.

Ms. Anderson told him no and ran out the front door of her house, yelling for help, her husband said. The man left through the back door, which he had broken, Mr. Anderson said.

Police, detectives and neighbors all responded to the house.
