Chattanooga: STARS 5-11, LOOKOUTS 3-6

Wednesday’s recap: Travis Wood’s struggles continued as Huntsville won the first seven-inning game 5-3, dropping Wood’s season record to 2-8. The Stars swept the doubleheader with an 11-6 victory, countering Tonys Gutierrez’s three-run homer that tied it 6-6 with a five-run sixth inning that was highlighted by Mat Gamel’s bases-clearing double to right. The Lookouts are now 21-31 with 18 games remaining in the Southern League’s second half. Justin Turner’s home run to right in the first inning of the opener gave the Lookouts a 1-0 lead, but Huntsville tied it in the first and took a 4-1 lead in the third. Cole Gillespie doubled to left to score Angel Salome and Gamel in the third and then came home on Chris Errecart’s single to right.

Next game: Game three of a five-game series in Huntsville is tonight at 8:05 EDT.

Pitchers: Sam LeCure (9-6, 3.67 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Brae Wright (6-9, 3.40) scheduled for the Stars.

Transactions: The Lookouts activated relievers Lee Tabor and Derrik Lutz off the disabled list Wednesday and sent reliever Justin James to high Single-A Sarasota.
