UT's Brandon Warren comes off of the field during a scrimmage at Neyland Stadium on Sunday evening.

The NCAA Membership Services staff informed the University of Tennessee that Brandon Warren was cleared to play this season.

Warren, an Alcoa, Tenn., native who made the Freshman All-American team as a tight end at Florida State, figures to be a big part of the Vols offense this fall. He transferred to Tennessee to be closer to his mother, who has been battling cancer.

“I just want to thank the coaching staff for going out on a limb for me and understanding the circumstances I have been in and the obstacles I have had to go through,” Warren said in a UT release.

Said Vols coach Phillip Fulmer in the same release: “I’m really excited for Brandon. I appreciate his hard work while he has been getting his academics in order.”
