The speakers on Wednesday included military person after military person. John Hutson, rear admiral, retired, shared his frustration with “arrogance abroad and incompetence at home” then offered that he was a former Republican inspired by Barack Obama’s ideals of unity and common purpose. He said he believed Obama will keep our military strong.
The most moving part was video of soldiers talking about their experience. Out of that we were challenged to bring change with Obama-Biden.
Joe Biden’s story was amazing and personal. He was very gracious in complementing John McCain for his work and friendship, but he also highlighted their disagreement on issues. This is a great example of the new kind of politics that absolutely must be embraced. Will the other side go negative? Probably. But I suggest the American people expect that. They don’t expect genuine focus on issues.
I believe the focus on issues will be the only way to capture the American middle, who desperately are looking for something genuine.
