“Yoga Works” for the holidays

by Kathy Gilbert

Holidays can challenge even the most dedicated exerciser.

“Yoga Works,” a new DVD by Chattanooga yoga therapist Susan Bryant, offers yoga lessons anytime.

“My mission and my love is to get yoga out there to show people how to improve their quality of life,” Ms. Bryant said.

The DVD, designed for beginning through intermediate students, begins with diagphragmatic breathing for relaxation and stress, moves to a warmup with seated postures, then progresses to standing, then supine (on-back) postures. A relaxing cooldown ending in a traditional shavasana (corpse or resting pose), wraps up the session.

“I talk you through everything,” Ms. Bryant said. “You can stop on a posture and learn about that posture, even repeat it as many times as you want to.”

Ms. Bryant is a certified integrative yoga therapist and a Certified Yoga for Golfers instructor. She teaches at the Sports Barn and Clear Spring Yoga Studio.

The DVD ($25) is available at www.sbryantyogaworks.com ($29 with shipping), at the downtown Sports Barn, Greenlife Grocery and Fairyland Pharmacy and Good Shepherd Bookstore in Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
