Friends, family and local officials gather at Carter and 20th Streets Monday afternoon for the dedication of a section of the former as Reggie White Boulevard, honoring the late defensive end who hailed from Chattanooga. Attending the ceremony were, from left, Chattanooga News Chronicle CEO John L. Edwards III, Mr. White's former photographer Herman Prater Sr., Mary Adams and Mr. White's mother, Thelma Collier.
A sign was unveiled today officially changing the name of Chattanooga’s Carter Street to Reggie White Boulevard in honor of the NFL Hall-of-Fame defensive end who hailed from here.

Mr. White played at Howard High School and the University of Tennessee and went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and Carolina Panthers. While at Green Bay, Mr. White helped lead the team to a Super Bowl victory.
Carter Street symbolically was dubbed “Reggie White Boulevard” several years ago. The Chattanooga City Council voted three weeks ago officially to change the name.
