Lawyer to Parker: Stop talking

Walker County Superior Court Judge Jon “Bo” Wood denied bond for former LaFayette police Sgt. Sam Parker on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Parker’s lawyer said.

Mr. Parker’s public defender David Dunn confirmed that his client will remain in an area jail, although he will not say where the defendant is being housed.

Mr. Parker is charged with murdering his wife, Theresa Parker, a Walker County 911 dispatcher.

He also faces three additional felonies of making false statements, computer invasion of privacy and violation of oath by a public officer.

Theresa Parker has been missing for almost a year, and, though a body has not been found, Sam Parker was arrested Feb. 4 on a murder charge.

Tuesday at a bond hearing and arraignment Judge Wood heard six witnesses describe a violent and threatening Sam Parker, who has tried to harm himself in the past.
