Norma Jean "Jane" Camp, 66, longtime resident of Signal Mountain, went to be with the Lord when God called Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member and minister of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Odom; and brother, Charles Odom Jr.

Betty Donaldson, 89, of Chattanooga passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Mary Sunday School Class. Mrs. Donaldson was retired from Stanley-Lachman Insurance Agency after 30 years of service and was a member of Insurance Women of Chattanooga for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlton Donaldson.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sullivan, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Phillis Marko, of New York, N.Y.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Swafford, of Chattanooga.

Virginia Fekete
Virginia Louise Fekete, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
She had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Esta Marie Brown; her husband, James Charles Fekete Sr.; and daughter, Debra Fekete.
Survivors include one son, James C. Fekete Jr., Knoxville; five brothers, Roy Brown, Dunlap, Tenn., Robert, Arnold and David Brown, Chattanooga and Billy Brown, Rossville; five grandchildren, Brandy Johnson and Steven, Candy, James and Kayla Fekete; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Charles Henson
Charles L. Henson, 85, was called home on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chaz and Lela Henson; his brother, Harry A. Henson; his daughter, Charlotte A. Brown; and daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Henson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Daisy Henson; sons, Lewis A. (Billie), of Tampa, Fla., and Cedric A., of Chattanooga; sister Lula Hughley, of Chattanooga; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and host of relatives and friends.
Charles Lewis Henson was born March 14, 1922, in Dayton, Tenn. He was educated in the public school system of Hamilton County. He attended Booker T. Washington High and Boone-Higgins Trade Schools.
During WWII, Charles served his country in the U.S. Army with the 92nd Infantry Division, historically know as the "Buffalo Soldiers." "Buffalo Soldiers" of the 92nd were the only "men of color" that actually fought in combat in the European Theater.
Charles worked at Combustion Engineering Inc. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986.
Charles served the Lord Jesus Christ at Cleage's Chapel AME Zion Church for more than 60 years. Charles was always a soldier and servant of the Lord. He served as the first president of the AME Zion Church Chattanooga District Lay Counsel and performed duties as Pastor's Steward and chairman of the Trustee Board.
Charles was an active member of the community, serving as a member of the NAACP, American Legion and many neighborhood service committees.
The funeral service will be conducted at noon, Monday, Jan. 21, at Cleage's Chapel AME Zion Church, 1550 E. Third St.
Interment will be at National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 6-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Joanne "Jo" Jensen, 79, of Lookout Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Alexian Healthcare Center after several years of Alzheimer's disease.

She was of the Baptist faith and was retired as an EMR teacher after 40 years of service in Carter County and Walker County.

Burma Peters Powell, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at a local hospital.
A lifelong resident of the North Georgia/Chattanooga area, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.W. Powell; parents, Jeff and Nora Clemons Peters; two sisters, Lillian Burt and Ina Wooden; and five brothers, Dennis, Donald, Clarence, Virgil and David Peters.

She was a member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church and the Fidelas Sunday School Class. Mrs. Rogers had worked for the Vogue for many years and retired from Hunter Art Gallery in 2000. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Rogers; mother, Bessie Owens Cope; father, General Forrest Cope; two brothers, General Forrest "Buddy" Cope Jr. and Bob Cope; and a sister, Katherine Rich.

Pearl Watkins
Pearl V. Watkins, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2008, in a local health care facility.
She was a longtime member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and upon declining health, attended Friendship Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Bryant and Rachel Bryant-Thomas; sisters, Dorothy Foster and Maritana Gibson; husband, Ernest Watkins.

Virginia White
Virginia Mitchell White, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at a local hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1917, in Cave Springs, Ga., to Dilmus V. and Emma Baxter Mitchell, she graduated from Central High School and Mc-Kenzie Business College.
Virginia enjoyed her position as executive secretary to the vice presidents of the Life Department of Provident Insurance Co. from 1957 to 1981.
She was married to Harold Bryan White, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail White Coulter; son-in-law, N. Bearl Coulter Jr.; granddaughters Kim Coulter, of Hixson, and Nicole Mills (Terry Mills), of Signal Mountain; great-grandchildren, Alec Mills and Olivia and Matthew Plunkett; nephews, Darden Newman, of Signal Mountain, and Ray White, of Hixson; and brother-in-law, Raymond White, of Chattanooga; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Admired and respected, personally and professionally, she was an inspiration and role model of faith, compassion and love.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Rivermont Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime member. Dr. Daniel Sansbury will officiate the service following visitation at the church at 2 p.m.

Carl O. "C.O." Wood, after a courageous battle with cancer, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the age of 81. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church, a faithful member serving as deacon for over 50 years and held many other positions of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was a native of Etowah, Tenn., educated in the Etowah City Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and settled in Chattanooga to work for DuPont, where he retired after 40 years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Wood; mother, Nell Brown; and father, Carl O. Wood Sr.
C.O. is survived by his wife of 57 years, June Whitehead Wood; two sons, Michael and wife, Kathy, Steven and wife, Rosalind; four grandchildren, Rachel, Morgan, Rebecca and Katie Wood; sisters, Marthan Gray, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Frances Knight, of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews.

Maude Goodner
RINGGOLD -- Maude Stamey Goodner, 89, left this life Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
She was a resident of the North Georgia/Chattanooga area for most of her life and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
Maude was the oldest daughter of Elijah and Doshia Stamey. At an early age she began playing the piano and singing with her Papa at shape note singing schools. She loved gospel music and continued serving as a pianist for churches and groups for many years.
Maude was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Goodner; brothers. Horace and Reed Stamey; and nephew, Jack Stamey.
She is survived by two sisters, Bess Simpson and Della Benton.
Maude never had children of her own, but enjoyed her nieces, nephews and their spouses who loved and enjoyed their "fun aunt," too. They are Archie Stamey, Blanche Davis, Jimmy Simpson, Sharon Branch, June Christian and two nieces who were her helpers for many years, Judy West and Carol Gravely.
The family would like to thank the people at Life Care of East Ridge and Trinity Hospice, and a special thanks to Mashelle, who became a good friend to Maude.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

ROSSVILLE -- Jack A. Middleton, 80, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Bible Baptist Church in Rossville with the Rev. Ricky Gravley, the Rev. Jack Pendergrass and the Rev. Burman Cape officiating.
Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
Mr. Middleton will lie in state from noon until the funeral hour at the church.

Peggy Yankovich
FORT OGLETHORPE -- Peggy Joyce Foster Yankovich, 72, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Yankovich was a resident of the North Georgia area for the past 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Ted Foster, of Sweetwater, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jack Yankovich; and sisters, Virginia Dawson, Erie, Tenn., Wanda (Harold) Wilson, Sweetwater, and Shirley (Ronnie) Rogers, Athens, Tenn.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. R.V. Wells and Chaplain Don Sapp officiating.
Interment will be in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park in Sweetwater on Monday at 10 a.m.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

RAINSVILLE -- Buford Cameron, 60, formerly of Rainsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Atlanta Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. CST Sunday, Jan. 20, from Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in New Canaan Cemetery.

HAMPTON, Va. -- Jerry Leon Kilgore, 54, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
He was born in Chattanooga, where he resided until 1988 when he relocated to Hampton. He was employed with Koehring Southern in Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Brenda Kilgore; two children, Mark Kilgore and Misty Kilgore, both of Knoxville; one brother, Terry Kilgore; and one sister, Johnas Minnis, both of Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Kilgore.
A small gathering was held at the residence in Virginia.
