Chickamauga plant closing

Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex is closing its Chickamauga, Ga., plant on Aug. 31, according to a company statement.

The factory has 57 workers who make various latex products. Production will be moved to other sites.

“This rationalization of production capacity is necessary to bring our capability in line with current market demand,” Jeffrey Welker, president of Dow Reichhold, said in a statement.

Dow Reichhold is a 50/50 joint venture of The Dow Chemical Co. and Reichhold Inc. The joint venture is the world’s largest producer of specialty latex, according to the statement. The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
