Five injured in Polk County crash

Five were injured in a Polk County car crash earlier this evening and three were flown by Life Force to Erlanger hospital, law enforcement officials said.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said the vehicle struck a tree at about 6:18 p.m. on U.S. Highway 64 near the Ocoee Whitewater Center.

“It was approximately half a mile east of the 15 mile-per-hour curve,” said Lavonne Collins of the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.

No further details immediately available as officials were still on the scene two hours later.

In other areas, all appeared quiet.

“Knock on wood. Hope it stays that way,” an East Ridge Police official said.
