Baby boomers are in the midst of another life stage. As with past life stages, they are shaking things up and making midlife societal changes that come as no surprise to me. But maybe that's because I have my finger on the pulse of this spirited generation and realize what the sheer number of us can do at any crossroad. Seventy-eight million men and women, aged 44-62 can certainly impact how the latter years are embraced.
While it’s hard to put boomers in a box, even a very large one, it’s possible to see what the current trends are among this generation. Here’s my Top Ten List of Baby Boomer Trends:
— Working longer
— Re-invention
— Maintaining Youthfulness
— Health Management
— Righting Relationships
— Traveling
— Going Green
— Working and Playing Online
— Getting Organized
— Volunteering
What’s interesting about this list is that past generations didn’t have the tools needed for some of these considerations. Since boomers are healthier, wealthier and better educated than prior generations, they have much to look forward to in the latter years.
Do you see yourself fitting in with any of these trends today or in the near future?

It appears that you've "hit the nail on the head" with all ten categories. With the exception of #1 & #2, I have either done or am doing all the rest. As for working longer, I retired from the Navy 21 years ago, and have recently fully retired at age 61. I'll just wait out the next few months until SSI starts. Re-invention? I'm not sure what is involved in that. I'm satisfied to be the person I am, and live a life style that fits both my family and myself. We retired to Madisonville in 1992, and have been very satisfied here. Rural living is VERY good to us. Thanks, Dan Russell
