November 2007

Stefan Jacoby is named president of Volkswagen of America.

December 2007

Volkswagen invites states to submit site proposals for a car plant.

January 2008

Tennessee’s chief economic recruiter, Matt Kisber, pitches Tennessee sites to VW in Germany.

January 2008

Trevor Hamilton of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce meets with Mr. Jacoby in Detroit.

April 23, 2008

Volkswagen narrows site choices from 25 states to three — Michigan, Alabama and Tennessee.

May 15, 2008

118 top business and political leaders meet VW representatives at Bob Corker’s Riverview home.

May 16, 2008

VW officials meet with officials from UTC SimCenter, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and UT and tour the Chattanooga area.

June 10, 2008

Dinner at Sen. Corker’s home among 17 political and Chamber of Commerce leaders with top VW officials.

June 20, 2008

Dinner at Sen. Corker’s home followed the next day by tours of area.

July 2, 2008

Volkswagen officials meet with Tennessee officials to review final offers.

July 15, 2008

Volkswagen board picks Chattanooga for site of $1 billion car plant.
