The Tennessee Valley Authority announced today that Rob Manning, vice president of field operations in Duke Energy’s Power Delivery business, will head TVA’s transmission organization.

Mr. Manning, a 30-year veteran of the utility industry, fills the vacancy created when Terry Boston left TVA in February to become chief executive of the nation’s largest regional transmission organization, PJM Interconnection.

Mr. Manning will join TVA in Chattanooga on Aug. 18 as executive vice president of TVA’s Power Systems Operations. He will be responsible for the delivery of electric power throughout the TVA region, which includes planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the nation’s largest public power supply network.

TVA Chief Operating Officer Bill McCollum said Mr. Manning is “an impressive leader who is focused on employees, customers and results and is strongly committed to a safe work place.”

The new TVA executive joined Duke in 1978 as an electrical engineer and has held increasingly responsible positions in the transmission and distribution areas of Duke’s electric and gas businesses.
