Harvey Scholl, 61
Sterling, Ill.
Harvey Scholl has driven trucks for 20 different companies and doesn't put much faith in the corner-office executives who oversee the drivers on the ground.
Mr. Scholl, who has been a truck driver since 1961, now drives for Mercer. He's been on the road for three months.
As an owner-operator he runs an average route of 2,000 miles and is angry about the direction that trucking companies are headed, he said.
Mr. Scholl said he sees a lot of foreign workers replacing American drivers and believes trucking companies should do more to protect American drivers.
Between the oil companies and the government, Mr. Scholl believes drivers are going to be bled dry and forced out of business.
"Nothing is going to change," he said. "They are trying to bust everyone and this is how they do it."
