Republican sheriff candidate Jim Hammond is beating Democrat Greg Beck in fund-raising by a 6 to 1 margin and his independent and write-in opponents even more than that, according to campaign finance reports released today.
Mr. Hammond has raised $120,675 and has spent just over $87,000 of that, leaving him with a balance of $33,564, his funding disclosure form states.
In contrast, Mr. Beck has raised $20,385 and has a remaining balance of about $3,500.
Independent candidates Jim Winters and Tim Akins raised $3,958 and $3,000, respectively, while write-in candidate Fred Fuson shows a total collection of $2,451.
Mr. Winters’ and Mr. Akins’ campaigns are now in debt, records show. Mr. Fuson has about $1,300 left.

Lauren, The article does not refect the fact that I am only in debt to myself. As I have stated to everyone, I have not requested any campaign funds from anyone. The above statement sends a negative message to your readers that is not true. Jim Winters
IT IS TRULY SAD THERE ARE NO HONORABLE PEOPLE RUNNING IN THIS RACE.
I have been listening and reading about the canidets on there past performances and there Ethics, Mr. Hammond has done some questionable things in the past. And yes rides the fence. Noone wants to bring up those issues because he would not even be in the race, And with all those contrabutions that Mr. Hammond has recieved, What kind of promises did he make to get all of that money. And dont tell me that when running for an Office that some canidets dont make promises to get donations. All of the other canidets has not raised even half that much. Something is wrong with that pitcher.
