Goody’s plans store closings in Chattanooga

Goody’s Family Clothing is shutting its three Chattanooga stores as part of a plan to close 69 units, the company said today.

Knoxville-based Goody’s announced it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and it will shut underperforming stores.

According to Goody’s Web site, it will close units on Gunbarrel Road in East Brainerd, at Eastgate Town Center on Brainerd Road and off Highway 153 in Hixson.

When the stores will close has not been announced.

The company plans to keep open its North Georgia store on Battlefield Parkway, according to its Web site.
