CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Family Friends, a program to help children with troubling behavior and their families, received a three-month life extension Monday from the Bradley County Commission.
Sonny Moss, Family Friends director for Bradley County, said the state cut the program’s funding this year.
Without some local support, Mr. Moss said the program that has kept hundreds of children out of the juvenile court system for 15 years would end in two weeks.
“We work with families that the majority fall through the cracks. Not all, but a majority,’’ Mr. Moss told commissioners Monday.
The commission authorized $29,031.39 from its fund balance to provide salaries and benefits for July, August and September.
The commission is appealing to the Cleveland City Council to share the cost.
