Chattanooga woman jailed in Bradley for passing bogus checks

A Chattanooga woman has been charged in Bradley County with cashing bogus checks in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bob Gault said Amanda Lee Harvey, 20, of a Cummings Highway address was arrested Friday after she was indicted on charges of criminal simulation, forgery and theft under $500. Charges are pending against another person, Mr. Gault said in a news release.

He said the forged checks bore the name of the Bojangles chicken restaurant chain and each was in the amount of $283.57.

Checks were cashed in 18 places, including Bradley County, South Pittsburg and East Ridge in Tennessee and in Catoosa County and Dalton in Georgia.

Altogether, investigators believe bogus checks were cashed at 18 places in the tri-state area. Additional charges may be filed, he said.
