* For the kids: The Cherokee Days of Recognition features storytelling and living history demonstrations. There’s a hiking trail and a stream where children can wade, plus lots of wildlife. In summer, a ranger takes visitors on nature and historical walks. The Museum Center at Five Points in Cleveland will offer a day camp July 21-25. There will be various activities on Cherokee culture. Preregistration is required at the museum center.

* Gas-saving tip: Park officials encourage carpooling with the entire family to the park for picnic and nature walks.
