NASHVILLE — McMinn County will be home to a new clinic for military veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced Friday.

The VA said it plans to build three new clinics in Tennessee in the next 10 months under a national plan to expand access to health care for veterans. The others will be in Giles and Maury counties.

The VA has approved a total of 44 new community-based outpatient clinics in 21 states.

According to the VA, the new clinics will have onsite primary care staff along with the capability for video consultations with specialists at regional VA hospitals.

There are more than one-half million veterans and their estimated 1.5 million survivors and dependents in Tennessee, according to the state Department of Veterans Affairs.
