Ronald Nelson Aurswald, 89, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 2008, at his home.

Sara Weaver Boyd passed Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Philadelphia.

Faustina Bristol

Faustina F. Bristol, 90, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

She was a native of Henderson County, Tenn., and a graduate of Lexington High School class of 1935. Her husband, Herbert worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for many years and they traveled extensively until settling in Chattanooga in 1950. In 1951 she and Sally Aycock opened The Sallina Shop and were joined by Faustina's daughter, Donna from 1983 to 1998. She was a faithful member of Brainerd Baptist Church and past president of the Grace Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Bristol was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Herbert A. Bristol.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna B. Akers and husband, David, of Chattanooga; one grandson, James R. Akers and wife, Kindra, of Chattanooga; one brother, Hugh L. Fesmire and wife, Mitchell, of Lexington, Tenn.; one niece and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Brainerd Baptist Church with the Rev. George Clark and the Rev. Mark Mims officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grace Sunday School Class.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Roberta Partridge Callier, formerly of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Philadelphia.

Thomas Boyd Carey, 70, of Mowbray Mountain, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army.

His parents, Demps and Nola Harris Carey; brothers, Eugene "Gabe" Carey and Floyd Carey, preceded him in death.

Fred Edward Colquitt Jr., 62, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at his home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Tyner High School in 1963. He earned an AS degree from Chattanooga State Technical Community College in 1989, Cum Laude.

He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Edward Colquitt Sr.; mother, Jeanette Brooks Colquitt; and sister, Kathy Colquitt.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Bonnie U. Colquitt, of Chattanooga; sister, Jean Bush, of Leander, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Geames Guyton, of Macon, Ga.; sister, Freda Johnson, of Macon; daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Zach Ingle, of Chattanooga; two granddaughters, Haylee and Hannah Ingle; aunt, Josephine Ross, of Kingston, Ga.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.Monday, March 3, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Wilma Gerelene Davis, 84, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at her home.

She was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church.

Juanita Deal, 88, of Hixson, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at her home.

Gladys Parris DeGarmo, 85, of East Ridge, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at a local health care facility.

She was a native of Johnson City and had lived most of her life in East Ridge, where she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Cleveland "Brother" Edwards, of Chattanooga, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.

He retired from U.S. Army after 28 years. He retired from TVA and worked at Pruett until they closed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Essie "Few" Edwards; one sister Rosetta Edwards; two nephews, Ernest "Bugger" Vaughn Jr., Darrell Richardson; and one brother-in-law, Ernest Vaughn Sr.

Survivors include sons, Sidney and Robert Edwards, of Chattanooga; brothers, Nathaniel Edwards Sr., of Chattanooga and Alphonso Edwards, of Atlanta; sisters, Sarah Vaughn, caretaker Reba Edwards and Willie Mae Lawson, all of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Margaret Edwards, of Chattanooga; nephews, Nathaniel (Jackie) Edwards Jr. Tommie Vaughn, a caretaker, Leon Edwards, Raymond Gregory and Robert L. Martina E. Emerling, 76, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at a local hospital.

She was a member of Pitts Gap Church of God.

Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey Capehart, of Soddy-Daisy and Vernon Adams Jr., of Matthews, N.C.; daughter, Carolyn Adams, of Hixson; brother Dewitt Emerling, of Graysville, Tenn.; sister, Margarite Emerling, of Graysville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ernest Eugene Hall, 41, lifelong resident of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

He attended Kirkman Technical High School.

James Hutton

James C. "Jack" Hutton, 85, of Soddy-Daisy died on Thursday, February 28, 2008.

Mr. Hutton was born at Guild, Tenn., on March 16, 1922, the son of Charlie and Eliza Hutton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired Iron Worker and a member of Iron Workers local 704 from 1947 to 2008, 61 years.

He was a lifetime member of Alhambra Shrine and lifetime member of Alhambra clown unit.

Mr. Hutton was preceded in death by his mother and father, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Potts Hutton; son, James "Jimmy" Hutton; daughter, Marian Hutton Kelley; one brother, Chester E. Hutton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

Interment will be Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Esther Thornton Lucas, 101, of Chattanooga, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, in a local nursing home.

John Mawhinney

John Francis Mawhinney, 74, of Hixson, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in a local hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Janesville, Wis., Mr. Mawhinney was the son of the late Harold and Marcella McNally Mawhinney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.

Mr. Mawhinney retired as assistant vice president of Mortgage Associates, now part of Bank of America, after many years of service in Milwaukee, Wis. He made his home in the Hixson area in 1988.

He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and loved volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program. In the past he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and a swimming teacher at the YMCA. Mr. Mawhinney was an active blood donor, donating over 16 gallons to Blood Assurance in Chattanooga, as well as heading up many blood drives in Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Mawhinney; daughter, Kathy (Paul) Appel, of Huntsville, Ala.; sons, Jim (Chris) Mawhinney, of Janesville, Wis., Tim Mawhinney, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mike Mawhinney, of Mishawaka, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Bobbie) Mawhinney, of Janesville, Wis.; sisters, Mary (Larry) Staller, of Janesville, Wis., and Marlene Turner of Waukesha, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, March 1, 2008, at Hixson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Rosehill Cemetery in Rockmart, Ga.

Elizabeth Bradley Weeks, 84, of Lookout Mountain, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008.

Born in Ashburn, Ga., to Ava Johnston and Dr. John W. Bradley, she graduated from Girls Preparatory School and Hollins College. After the death of her husband, William R. Weeks II, she worked for many years for Volunteer Sales.

"Brad" was a retired member of the Junior League and was an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, Lookout Mountain, where she was a leader in the healing ministry services. She had a love of bridge, which was really an excuse to enjoy her many friends. Fellowship with her friends, many of whom she had known for a lifetime, was an important part of her life. Church, family, especially her grandchildren, and friends were the cornerstones of her life.

She is survived by her brother, John W. Bradley Jr., of Lookout Mountain; daughter, Sarah J. Weeks, Knoxville; sons, W. Bradley (Ann) Weeks and Harold J. (Sharon) Weeks, Lookout Mountain; grandchildren, Brooke Weeks, Portland, Ore., Sarah E. Weeks, Chattanooga, Katherine Weeks, Atlanta, Will Weeks, Lookout Mountain.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, March 1, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Lookout Mountain with the Rev. Dex Bender officiating.

Interment will follow in Good Shepherd's Caldwell Memorial Garden.

A resident of the North Georgia area for most of her life she was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church and a former employee of John's Coffee Shop in Ringgold for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Allen; parents, Thomas and Mary Cantrell Jarrard; daughter, Robbie Van Pelt; four brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Nell and James Penley, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Tommie Hargraves, of LaFayette, Ga., Wanda and Richard Monds, of Hixson, and Mildred Frady, of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

LaFAYETTE -- Edith Artelia Butler Johnson, 89, of Huddleston, Va., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008.

She was born Sept. 4, 1918, to the late Emery and Amanda Reynolds Butler in Sand Mountain, Ga. She spent most of her life in Northwest Georgia and was of the Baptist faith.

Edith was also preceded in death by her husband, John S. Johnson Jr.; son, John Daniel Johnson; and seven siblings, Theodore, Cleo, Fannie, James, Lillian, Hoyt and Fred.

Ruby Thomas

LaFAYETTE -- Ruby Stella Kennemer Thomas, 84, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1924 to the late George Lee and Effie Estell Brock Kennemer. She was a resident of LaFayette, for the past 60 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Rock Spring, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth George Thomas; brother, Raymond Kennemer; and a sister, Lois Kessler.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Lamar O'Barr, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie Linda and Joseph Bergbauer, of Dallas, Ga.; grandchildren, Christy Michelle Miller, Katrina Lynn Bergbauer, Teresa Dawn Hale, Joseph Thomas Bergbauer; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Grace Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Fred E. Pursley and the Rev. Alvin Hale officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today and Sunday morning prior to the service.

George Ware

RINGGOLD -- George Dennis Ware, 87, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area he was a former employee of Sweetwater Carpet where he worked for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Ware; parents, J.H. and Maude Land Ware; daughter, Georgia Young; and two brothers, Henry and Charlie Ware.

He is survived by daughter, Barbara Finney, of Cartersville, Ga.; special son-in-law, Paul Young, of Rydal, Ga.; sister, Nita Longwith, of Ringgold, Ga.; grandson, Benji Baggett, of Cartersville, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Lukas, Clare and Maddy Baggett, all of Cartersville; special nephew, Vernon Ware, of Chattanooga; and several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. today at Mount Vernon Cemetery with Bill Long officiating.

The family will receive friends until 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

DAWSON -- J.W. Farmer, 77, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, in Trinity Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. CST Sunday, March 2, from W.T. Wilson Chapel.

Alford Koger

IDER -- Alford Koger, 59, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Cumberland Health Care.

Survivors include three daughters, Crystal, Angel and Joani; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lila and Junior Shaw, Flat Rock, Deanie and Wayne Short, Ider; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Five Points Baptist Church.

Funeral services are today, at 10 a.m. CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Ellison officiating.

Burial in Fuller Cemetery.
