Chattanooga police are investigating a possible homicide this morning at 3811 Forest Highland Drive, according to reports from Lt. Tim Carroll, head of the police department's major crimes division.
Robyn Burns Gann, 25, was found dead at the Hixson residence after police arrived at 3:37 a.m. to check on her well-being, Lt. Carroll said. She had gone over to the home to talk with her estranged husband, 23-year-old Kenneth Gann.
"The family knew she was coming over," Lt. Carroll said. "When she didn't come home, police were dispatched."
Officers arriving at the home saw Mr. Gann through the front window, according to the lieutenant. He was sitting in the living room with a plastic bag taped over his head.
The officers forced entry and cut the bag off of his head, finding him still alive, Lt. Carroll said. Mr. Gann was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he remains under police guard. He is considered a suspect in the death of his wife, who according to police was found in the next room.
The cause of her death was not immediately known, investigators said, but it is being treated as a homicide.
