SUBDIVISION HIGHLIGHTS

* Playground: Barrington Pointe will have a fenced-in playground with six slides, swings, merry-go-round and other toys for children to play on. Parents can sit under a pavilion while watching their children play.

* Lakes: The development has a 2-acre, 7-acre and 10-acre lake. Sixty homes will have back yards facing the lakes.

OTHER FEATURES

* Subdivision amenities: Mountain views; sidewalks; sewer; custom-designed lighted mailboxes and street signs; half-acre to 1 acre lots

* Location: Convenience to Soddy-Daisy, Dayton, Tenn., and downtown Chattanooga, as well as nearby lakes

* Homeowners: Randy and Tracy Rivera and their sons, Dylan, 15, and Mateo, 11, bought a house in Barrington Pointe in late February. Mr. Rivera recently was hired by the Tennessee Valley Authority as a technician at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. The family moved here recently from Bakersfield, Calif. Mr. Rivera said housing is much more affordable in the Chattanooga area, and the family chose Barrington Pointe because of its convenience to Sequoyah and downtown Chattanooga. Soddy-Daisy is appealing because it has less traffic than East Brainerd, Mrs. Rivera said.

* Builders: Various; One builder, Tim Bond, said his two houses are the closest to the lake; one house is listed at $390,000, the other is $395,000. Features include custom cabinets, granite countertops, tile showers in the master bathroom, extensive trim and molding and GE Profile kitchen appliances. One house has travertine tile in the kitchen, while the other has no carpet on the main floor, only hardwood and tile.

* Mr. McClure’s homes: He has four homes for sale, from $375,000 to $425,000. The homes feature outside fireplaces; stone and brick exteriors; large decks; tile floors and tile showers; high trey ceilings; and hardwood floors.
