Mr. Rivera recently was hired by the Tennessee Valley Authority as a technician at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. The family moved here recently from Bakersfield, Calif. Mr. Rivera said housing is much more affordable in the Chattanooga area, and the family chose Barrington Pointe because of its convenience to Sequoyah and downtown Chattanooga. Soddy-Daisy is appealing because it has less traffic than East Brainerd, Mrs. Rivera said.
* Builders: Various; One builder, Tim Bond, said his two houses are the closest to the lake; one house is listed at $390,000, the other is $395,000. Features include custom cabinets, granite countertops, tile showers in the master bathroom, extensive trim and molding and GE Profile kitchen appliances. One house has travertine tile in the kitchen, while the other has no carpet on the main floor, only hardwood and tile.
* Mr. McClure’s homes: He has four homes for sale, from $375,000 to $425,000. The homes feature outside fireplaces; stone and brick exteriors; large decks; tile floors and tile showers; high trey ceilings; and hardwood floors.
