Homicide victim was strangled, medical examiner finds

by Lauren Gregory

Chattanooga’s third homicide victim of the year, 25-year-old Robyn Burns Gann, died from strangulation, according to autopsy findings reported today by the Hamilton County medical examiner’s office.

The cause of Mrs. Gann’s death is listed as manual strangulation, and the manner is homicide, the findings state. Her body was found early Sunday morning.

Mrs. Gann’s estranged husband, 23-year-old Kenneth Gann, will be charged with criminal homicide in connection with her death, according to Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Sgt. Weary said detectives had obtained a warrant against Mr. Gann while he recovers from an apparent suicide attempt at Memorial Hospital.
