Davidson sweeps top SoCon men’s awards; UTC’s Doaks, McDowell named second team

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga basketball players Nicchaeus Doaks and Stephen McDowell were named to the All-Southern Conference second team.

Davidson guard Stephen Curry was a unanimous choice by the Southern Conference Sports Media Association as player of the year.

Davidson coach Bob McKillop earned coach of the year honors, and The Citadel freshman Cameron Wells won newcomer of the year.

The first-team consists of Curry, Kyle Hines (UNC Greensboro) Louis Graham (Georgia Southern) Jason Richards (Davidson) and Donte Minter (Appalachian State).

Doaks and McDowell were joined on the second team by Brandon Giles (Western Carolina) Jermaine Johnson (College of Charleston) and Andrew Goudelock (C of C).
