Brainerd student charged with assaulting administrator

A Brainerd High School student was arrested today and charged with assaulting an assistant principal, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said.

The student reportedly was loud and disruptive in class today and trying to “antagonize another student to fight,” Ms. Atkinson said. The assistant principal was called to the classroom and asked the aggressor to go out into the hallway, where the student continued using vulgar language and behaving in a disruptive manner, she said.

During that confrontation, the student reportedly assaulted the administrator, Ms. Atkinson said.

The student was taken into custody by the school’s resource officer and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault, she said.
