Hamilton County Commission delays interim sheriff vote until April

Hamilton County Commission -- March 5, 2008

The Hamilton County Commission this morning voted 6-3 to delay their vote on selecting an interim sheriff until April 10.

Several commissioners had previously said that they would prefer not to select an interim sheriff at all and keep the department running as it is. Commissioner John Allen Brooks said that he does not believe the delay changes the situation. He said he believes state law dictates that the commission must appoint an interim sheriff.
